Privacy policy

What we collect

All of it you type into one of the two forms on this site. There is no account and no password.

Your name.
Your phone number. Both forms ask for it: a painter so we can tell you about work, a customer so we can call you with a price.
Your email address. Required when you ask for a price, optional on the painter application.
The parts of New York you can work in, or where your property is.
From customers only: the size of the unit and when you want the work done.
From painters only: years of painting, part-time or full-time, and whether you have a car.

Our host and our product analytics also record ordinary request data — the page asked for, the browser, an approximate region. We do not join that to the details above.

Why we collect it

To contact you. For a painter that means telling you about work: the days, the site, the pay. For someone asking about a unit it means a call or a message with a price and the days we can do it.

We do not build a profile of you for anybody else, and we do not use your details to advertise to you on other companies' platforms.

Text messages

We text painters about work. That is the whole program: a job we are staffing, the days and the pay, the address, an answer to something you asked, or a question about your application.

You start the messages, not us. You consent by submitting the painter application on this site, or by texting +1 (949) 876-4835 from your own phone. We never text a number that reached us any other way — not from a list, not from a referral, not from another company.

Message frequency varies with the work available. Expect a few messages a month, and more in a week when we are staffing a job near you.

Reply STOP to any message and the texts end. Reply HELP for help, or write to privacy@nivel.work.

We do not share your mobile number

We do not sell, rent or trade your mobile number, and we do not give it to lead generators or data brokers. We do not share it, or your consent to receive text messages, with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information is shared with anyone for that purpose, at any time.

Sending you a message takes three companies, and none of them is marketing to you: Customer.io holds your details and composes the message, Twilio hands it to your mobile carrier, and your carrier delivers it to your phone. Each one may use your number to carry that message and for nothing else. That is delivering the message, not sharing your number.

Who else handles your details

Three companies process data for us, under contract, and none of them may use it for their own purposes:

Customer.io — stores what you submit and sends our email and text messages.
Twilio — delivers the text messages to your mobile carrier.
Vercel — hosts this site and serves the page you are reading.

How long we keep it

We keep what you submit for as long as it is useful for putting you in touch with work, and at most three years after the last time we heard from you. Ask us to delete it sooner and we will — write to privacy@nivel.work. Records we are required to keep for tax or legal reasons are the exception, and we keep only those.

Your choices

You can do any of these at any time. You do not have to give a reason, and nothing else you have with Nivel changes because you did.

Stop the text messages: reply STOP to any message from us.
Stop the emails: use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any email we send.
See what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted: write to privacy@nivel.work. We answer within 30 days.

Under 18

This site is for adults looking for painting work, or for a painter. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18. Write to privacy@nivel.work if you think we have, and we delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we change the date at the top of this page. If a change affects the text messages — what we send, how often, or who handles them — we say so in a message before it takes effect.
